24th INTERNATIONAL PYROTECHNIC SEMINAR |
Twenty Fourth International Pyrotechnics Seminar The 24th International Pyrotechnics Seminar was held in Monterey California during 27-31 July 1998. Dr. Allen J. Tulis, as Chairman of the Seminar, again is to be commended for organizing an outstanding technical meeting with an enjoyable social calendar to compliment the technical sessions The Seminar had 126 participants from seventeen countries in attendance and 77 papers were presented.
Professor Kenneth K. Kuo from The Pennsylvania State University in the USA presented the Seminar Plenary Lecture. The title of Dr. Kuos lecture was Challenges of Hybrid Rocket Propulsion at the Turn of the Millennium.
Mr. Aleksei A. Porollo of the Mari State University, Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El Republic, Russia was announced as the Frank Carver Bursary Award winner. The award was based on the paper that he presented which was titled Theoretical Technique for Modeling of 1,3,3-Trinitroazetdine (TNAZ) Thermal Decomposition. This paper was coauthored by Professor Tatyana S. Pivina of the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences and Victor P. Ivshin of Mari State University.
The social event of the Seminar, which seemed to be enjoyed by all who participated, was strolling multi-course dinner at the Monterey Aquarium on Thursday evening.
